"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him” Nahum 1:7

Through prayer, believers are given the incredible privilege of communicating directly with our Heavenly Father. The Lord not only invites us to share our hopes, hurts and concerns with Him, He actually instructs us to come before His throne. How amazing that the God of the Universe wants to hear our petitions, and that we can count on Him to do “immeasurably more than we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20). James 5:16 reminds us that the “prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” As we spend time before our Creator, it strengthens our relationship with Him, allows Him to reveal the deep things of His nature, and opens our lives to His work.

On May 6, 2010, as millions of Christians united in ongoing supplication for our beloved country, Christ Church Anglican was called to stand in the gap “for such a time as this.”  We coordinated a National Day of Prayer service on the East Haven Town Green and prayed for our nation at this crucial juncture.
